Happy New Year!

The Ajeros in 2008.

We spent New Year's Eve up at a camp in the mountains. Some friends of ours from church who work at the camp get together up there and play games and have fun to ring in the new year. We had a great time!

On our way out of camp we had adventure (sorry, no pics of this). We took Uche's truck up there, and it doesn't have 4 wheel drive. It was no problem getting in, there was snow on the road, but not too bad. Getting out was another deal all together. We were crusing along just fine when we started up a big hill. We made it 20 feet from the top and the tires started spinning. Bummer. So we backed down the hill and tried again. Didn't make it. So, we rolled back down the hill. By then some people had piled up behind us and had to push the truck to get it to start up the hill, with me driving so Uche could help push. Again we made it to about 20 feet from the top. We tried and tried to get the truck move, but it just wasn't working. So, after 20+ minutes of digging out the snow and ice under the tires and piling up brush under the tires, and with lots of pushing, we got the truck to the top. Phew! I cruised out the rest of the way to the main road and we came down to the valley to enjoy sunshine and a rather warm New Year's Day.

The snow had melted a little on the roof and started to slide down, then it froze again, so there these long sheets of snow around the edge of the roof on all the buildings. Very fun to knock down.
